The current version of the ISO 14001 standard is ISO 14001:2015, which was last reviewed and confirmed in 2021. However, the standard was amended in 2024 to include climate action changes.

2024 Amendments
In Q1 2024, ISO’s technical committee released an amendment to the ISO 14001:2015 standard. “Amendment 1” adds the following changes to clauses 4.1 and 4.2:
4.1 Add the following sentence at the end of the subclause:
The organization shall determine whether climate change is a relevant issue.
4.2 Add the following note at the end of the subclause:
NOTE: Relevant interested parties can have requirements related to climate change.
These amendments act as a requirement for organisations to consider the context of their business as it relates to climate change.
